BETH BLACKBURN

All sculptures are formed by combining multiplecoils of stoneware clay. Every coil is hand rolledand pushed together to form a larger structure thatis then manipulated by hand, stretching the clayand scraping back to create the final shape.Manipulation of shadow, light, and reflection is keyto Beth’s practice.

Once the sculpture is fully formed it is fired to1000 degrees/c, after which it is reviewed, sandedand then fired again to temperatures between1220 and 1280 depending on the desired finish. All stoneware sculptures can be positioned bothinternally and externally.
