Artist’s Statement
Her artistic practice is characterized by a strong sense of structured expressionism, often working with acrylics and mixed media on board. Thomet’s work frequently explores themes of internal dialogue and emotional restraint, as evidenced by titles such as Through Gritted Teeth and The Mirror Within. Her style often incorporates bold, graphic elements and a refined use of colour—such as the Pantone-inspired palettes found in her recent exhibits—to navigate the relationship between "familiar frameworks" and the openness of a blank canvas.
Biography
Alison Thomet is a Paarl-based South African artist and architectural technologist who has successfully bridged the gap between a high-level corporate marketing career and fine arts. Previously a marketing manager for major brands like NetFlorist and L'Oréal, she is currently pursuing full-time studies in Architectural Technology, a field that informs the technical precision of her creative work. She is an active member of the Western Cape art community, frequently exhibiting at the AITY Gallery in Franschhoek and participating in curated group shows like the 2026 Cloud Dancer exhibition in Cape Town.
